The FINEST THINGS EVER MADE - some forgotten

I want to start a list of the finest things ever made. My notion is to list specific things rather than generalities. It occurred to me, when I had to buy some silk hat ribbon for a car I was restoring, that many very cool things get over-looked then cease to exist. It the case of silk ribbon, modern ribbon is all plastic and soon no one will remember that there was ever anything better. Silk ribbon is a whole differnt look and feel.

I'm going to start my list then add to them as they come to mind.

First on my list is Wing Wings. These were the airvents on the front door windows of your car. Modern cars, if you open the windows you get blasted with air. Cars with wind wings were great you could get fresh air without feeling you're in a Sunami.

Linhof cameras. These are very pricey but are among the finest things ever made. Most of them are large format 4x5 inch. Yes that a negetive that's 4 by 5 inches. Talk about resolution. That would be about a terabite file if it were digital. They still make them and the cost for the body alone is about $7,000.00 . They are magnificent though.

The Leica M3..My Baba left hers to me when she passed in 1985.The parental units hoarded it until 1999.My wedding shots were pretty sweet in 2001.I think Baba would've appreciated it's use.

Hubby destroyed it 3 years later.

I can still remember running my fingers over the vulcanite.Bumpy.
